The Journey of a Decorative Yixing Teapot

YANYOO was founded by Jingjing Yang in Dingshu Town, Yixing, the birthplace of the world’s finest Zisha clay. With a mission to share the beauty of authentic Yixing teapots and teaware, YANYOO collaborates with master artists from renowned studios, each bringing decades of expertise in shaping, firing, and decorating. The result is a curated collection of timeless pieces—elegant, functional, and crafted to enrich every tea experience.

Step One

Design Phase

Each YANYOO teapot undergoes an iterative design process before any production begins. This process is guided by three main factors: shape choice, decoration style and firing technique. By thoughtfully integrating these elements, we then envision the final product.

Step Two

Teapot Crafting

Master Lingxiang Yao, a National Assistant Arts and Crafts Master, began her journey in 1984 at the Yixing Zisha Craft Factory, learning teapot crafting and design under the guidance of several renowned masters. Through her passion and dedication, she honed her skills to perfection. Her teapots beautifully blend the essence of traditional craftsmanship with rich cultural and artistic value.

Step Three

Pattern Decorating

Master Ping Chu, a National Assistant Arts and Crafts Master, was mentored by renowned painter Shao Jiasheng. In 1996, she apprenticed with Chen Yu to learn engraving, and two years later, she studied clay painting under Zheng Qiubiao. Her exceptional skills have brought new life to Yixing teapots, creating intricate designs of landscapes, flowers, and more with her precise and delicate brushwork.

Step Four

Teapot Firing

We collaborate with various kiln studios, each specializing in different firing techniques, such as electric and wood firing etc., for our collections. We continuously explore innovative methods to enhance the texture, aesthetics, and overall quality of our teapots.
