Xi Shi Yixing Teapot
The Fusion Collection features Yixing teapots crafted with the famous Zisha clay blending (Jiao Ni) technique, i.e., combining two or more different-colored Zisha clays through methods such as kneading, pressing, layering, and inlaying. Blended-clay Yixing teapots retain the breathability and seasoning properties of traditional Zisha clay while adding depth, color contrast, and a distinctive aesthetic value.
This Xi Shi (西施) teapot, crafted from aged Wuni clay from Huanglong Mountain, is a classic form in the Yixing tradition, inspired by Xi Shi, one of the Four Great Beauties of ancient China. The body is round and full, paired with a truncated lid, a short and slightly thick spout, and an inverted ear-shaped handle. The overall silhouette is graceful and well-balanced.
The surface of this teapot features a striking woodgrain-like pattern with lines stretching horizontally across the body. A single circular dot sits above the wave-like bands, resembling a lone sun or moon suspended over windswept dunes. The natural contrast between light and dark clay gives the piece a quiet, almost surreal landscape quality.
