Xi Shi Yixing Teapot
The Starlight Collection has long been the highlight of our curated Yixing teapot offerings, pun intended. Each teapot is finished using the Water-Polish (Shuimo) technique, a traditional craft dating back to the late Qing Dynasty in the 1800s. Featuring small-sized Yixing teapots, the collection offers designs that are both delightful and collectible, perfect companions for solo tea sessions.
This Xi Shi (西施) teapot, crafted from premium Zhuni clay from Huanglong Mountain, is a classic form in the Yixing tradition, inspired by Xi Shi, one of the Four Great Beauties of ancient China. The body is round and full, paired with a truncated lid, a short and slightly thick spout, and an inverted ear-shaped handle. The overall silhouette is graceful and well-balanced.
The decoration features a Ruyi cloud motif, crafted using Falangcai (珐琅彩), an enamel technique originating in the Qing Dynasty as well. This auspicious pattern, inspired by ancient China's reverence for nature, symbolizes harmony and good fortune. Gold outlining on the spout and lid adds an elegant finishing touch.
