Double Ring Yixing Teapot
The Double Ring (雙圈) teapot, as the name suggests, features double rings, specifically seen in the bridge-shaped knob of the lid, which is adorned with two threaded rings. This teapot has a tall, cylindrical body that is grand and upright. The knob's double rings are perfectly rounded and polished, symbolizing the brilliance of twin jades.
It is one of the classic Yixing teapot shapes, with origins tracing back to the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. Passed down through generations, it has been reimagined by various renowned Yixing artists. Among the most iconic versions is the one crafted by Master Gu Jingzhou.
Crafted from aged Lvni (绿泥) clay from Huanglong Mountain, this edition offers exceptional breathability and absorbency. The decoration showcases embedded Zisha painting, a demanding and intricate technique. Grooves are carefully carved into the teapot, filled with contrasting original ore Zisha clay, and polished to complete the design. The sunflower pattern is a symbol of positivity, strength, long life and vitality.
Additionally, its size makes it an ideal choice for serving tea to two or more people.
